Wonderful Heritage and Braai Day with Heidel Eggs at Bagdad Centre where13 young junior chefs showed their skills with braaing a piece of meat and a side dish. Kids were in 2 categories 7yr -11yr and 12yr – 15yr olds, with a variety of dishes from succulent steak and potatoe salad, to chicken kebabs with butternut and feta and many more being presented. Top chefs and GM’s of restaurants and hotel groups judged the children’s meals with Marishelle Coetzer, aged 13, taking the overall prize of a week for her and her family in Biline Mozambique valued at nearly R20 000. Both junior and senior chefs were also rewarded for categories like best tasting meal, best presentation, combination of ingredients, most nutritious and other, with prizes including meals from Kitchen Co and Windpomp, accommodation prizes from both Emnotweni Sun and Mercure Hotels, MRTT and Bagdad vouchers and beautiful hampers from Farmers Box.
